The building identity answers simultaneously to the different functional conditions of its spaces –large public halls and office and administrative areas– as well as certain considerations at a broader urban scale. The building represents a hybrid typology, halfway between tower and block, between a horse and a human body. A wise centaur, Chiron, accommodates under his legs enough space so as Achilles –UIT– can be brought up and progress. The new UIT headquarters is vertical, but not high-rise, horizontal, but not low-rise. It has limbs, but it is not a horse, it is intelligent, but it is not human.
The building is an urban object whose form and position are shaped according to shape and position of neighbouring objects: the Place des Nations and the rue Varembé, the CICG, the WIPO tower, the former UIT tower and the Montbrilliant building.
