Metronatural Geneva is a project concerning future development in strong agricultural suburban areas. Greater Geneva area is part of the Metropole Lemanique, a more complex metropolitan entity composed through the merging of middle cores along highways and railways lines by the shore of Lake Geneva. In-between urban cores and pure suburban developments, as well as agricultural realm structures, compose a complex and quite idiosyncratic contemporary urban territory.
Greater Geneva presents a very hard change between the outskirts and the central city, due to its condition of border metro area, changes that are key to understand the problems to be addressed. Its strong agricultural identity is to be preserve at the same time that densification is a must. Finding a new image to this agricultural outskirts to solve its lack of density together with the needs for outstanding new dwellings, is a central task within the whole Metropole Lemanique.
